The picture on the left was one of those "cheap" jobs (a friend of mine sent this to me), a mere $200 to take a tree down. I suspect this ended up costing a lot more than $200 in the end.
This is probably a fairly light punishment when you think about it, because a falling tree is nothing to mess with. The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) probably writes more about tree safety than just about anything else. They also have issued press releases for the general public from time to time to advise them about how to safely work with the trees on their property and how to be smart about it. I'm including one of those so you know what to look for. It is important to me that you take care of yourself, your loved ones and your property (including your trees) most of all.
